PEC Zwolle remains on just one win in the Eredivisie this season. The team of Dick Schreuder suffered their 13th defeat of the current football season on Saturday. This time, FC Twente was too strong. The visitors crowned a top week, in which they also eliminated Feyenoord in the cup, with a 3-1 win and fourth place in the standings. PEC Zwolle has only won one game this season. On October 23, Zwolle celebrated after a 1-0 win against Heracles Zwolle. Three draws brought the point total to six. The convincing cup win against MVV Maastricht this week gave the Zwolle fans some hope again. But in the first half against FC Twente, it became clear that the struggling Zwolle team would not be able to give their poor harvest this season a boost. The home team had nothing to offer in the first 45 minutes. FC Twente, which would rise to fourth place in the standings with a win, did much better. The team had more firepower up front and was more effective with their chances. After a quarter of an hour, Ron Jans' team took advantage of poor defending by Zwolle. First, Virgil Misidjan was allowed to pass the ball unimpeded from the right. Defender Rav van den Berg was outmaneuvered by Greek striker Dimitris Limnios. Just before half-time, Manfred Ugalde doubled the lead. During a corner kick, Slobodan Tedic headed the ball over, and the striker from Costa Rica only had to head the ball: 0-2. Only in the final phase did PEC Zwolle show some signs of life in front of the opponent's goal. However, the most dangerous moment for Zwolle came in the first half, courtesy of Twente goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall. He kicked the ball hard against the onrushing Tedic and was lucky that the ball went wide. Those who expected a stormy second half from PEC Zwolle were disappointed. The Zwolle team remained very vulnerable at the back. Six minutes after the restart, Misidjan scored the third Twente goal. PEC Zwolle protested for offside, but referee Alex Bos and the VAR did not agree. Zwolle's Yuta Nakayama headed the ball into Misidjan's feet. The home team then played a lost game. PEC Zwolle created nothing, often playing the ball powerlessly around. Twente was happy with that. The third consecutive Eredivisie win was a fact, and with the cup success against Feyenoord, the Tukkers left Zwolle with a big smile. The fact that substitute Samir Lagsir scored a beautiful goal for 1-3 did not spoil the Twente party. Twente coach Ron Jans beamed with pride after the game: 'There can always be things that can be improved, but halfway through the competition, we have 31 points'.
