PEC Zwolle OldStars walking football tournament wins with WVF. The seventh edition of the tournament took place at sv HTC Zwolle. 160 participants took part in the tournament. The participants came not only from Zwolle and the region, but from the entire country. So were PEC Zwolle, as well as paid football organizations FC Twente, FC Utrecht, FC Groningen and Heracles Almelo represented. Also regional pride as SV Dalfsen, VV WVF, Rohda Raalte, HZVV and Z.A.C. gave presence. As well as teams from VV Steenwijk, SV Zwolle, FC Meppel, Elburger SC and Regge United. The day began relaxed with a joint lunch, where old acquaintances met again and new contacts were made. From 13.00 hours the ball rolled and was played on four fields. The teams were divided into two groups, which resulted in a clear and sporting course of the tournament. It was played fanatically, and often with a smile. Walking football is not about speed, but about technique, teamwork and pleasure. After a day full of beautiful matches, the group winners qualified for the final, where the first and second places were fought for. The second-placed teams from both groups played for the third and fourth places, which led to exciting conclusions. In between, the side event 'latje trap' provided extra entertainment and healthy competition along the line, which was won by the team from the Domstad (FC Utrecht). The final of the tournament was a Zwols derby, where WVF won with penalties against sv HTC. The PEC Zwolle OldStars walking football tournament, from our social heart Regio Zwolle United, once again showed how powerful and beautiful sport can be in bringing people together. With 160 participants, beautiful weather and excellent conditions, a very successful seventh edition of the event is looked back on. The PEC Zwolle OldStars walking football tournament is supported by the social cooperation between the four paid football organizations from Overijssel, Province of Overijssel and Sportnetwerk Overijssel. From this cooperation, FC Twente, Heracles Almelo, Go Ahead Eagles and PEC Zwolle are using the power of football to reduce loneliness among the elderly, make sports more accessible for people with disabilities and reduce inequality among children.
